Farm School Arrives

The group from the Farm School arrived on Wednesday, February 13th and will be busy helping kick-off the farm season at Spannocchia for the next three weeks. The 10 student farmers, accompanied by Farm School staff Patrick and Jennifer, will get a glimpse at organic farming on another continent and in a different climate from the farm they live and work on in Athol, Massachusetts (currently under snow). This is the fourth year for the Farm School here at Spannocchia and we are happy to keep building on this important relationship. Student farmers will get a chance to prepare beds, butcher pigs for fresh and salt-cured meats, stack wood, build fences and feed the many animals on the property including the pigs, sheep, cows, horses and donkeys.
