Program Description:
Landscape Painting in Tuscany is an intense landscape painting experience. It is intended to develop skills and understanding of traditional and contemporary concepts in landscape painting from direct observation and/or carefully developed field notes. Major emphasis shall be placed on form and content, visual perception and individual expression.
Grades shall be based upon the overall progress of an individual, baqsic understanding and execution of problems, ability, artistic interpretation and originality. Apart from daily individual criticism there will be one group critique per week in which all students will be expected to participate. Students will work Monday through Thursday and be given Friday through Sunday for travel.
Coordinator Biography:
Marty Avrett was born in Dallas, Texas and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA. Avrett is currently a professor of painting and drawing at Oklahoma State University. He has exhibited his work extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Mexico. Avrett’s work is represented in many museum collections throughout the United States and Great Britain and he is represented by numerous galleries in the U.S. and Mexico.
