Program Description:
The AIRC is a non-profit heritage and educational institute dedicated to preserving Rome’s cultural heritage while also making it more accessible to the public. The Program in Architecture is dedicated to the study of Rome as a laboratory for contemporary design, as well as for its rich, historic and future role as a sustainable city. We also concentrate on regional development and sustainability issues. Normal class sizes range from 25-32 students per semester.
Coordinator Biography:
Scott Schlimgen is the AIRC’s Vice President for Architecture and its Director of Architecture Programs. He has a Master’s in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Arkansas. Scott came to Rome in 1990, and he has practiced and taught architecture in Rome, Boston and California. He teaches courses on Theory, Analysis, Urbanism, and Design.
