A Taste of Tuscany Creatives Retreat

May 10 - May 17

Join Angela Powers and Traveling Painters as we return to Spannocchia for an unforgettable adventure for creatives at a magical working farm in Tuscany. There is something to excite everyone: hiking paths, farm animals, verdant gardens, a swimming pool, cooking classes, beautiful vistas, centuries of rural history, great wine and fantastic food. We will experience a taste of Tuscany and farm life at Spannocchia, all while documenting/journaling our fabulous adventure. Paints, journals and art instruction are included. Soak in the beauty of the Italian landscape and learn about the protection and conservation of Italian culture, cuisine and nature. We will explore the rich history and culture of the region with cooking classes and learn about organic farming and sustainability. All classes are included. Also included are excursions to Siena and San Gimignano. Siena is a beautiful walled city with it’s seventeen countrade (neighborhoods), with their distinct symbols each represented at the famous Palio horse race that takes place in the city center twice each year. San Gimignano is a small walled village famous for its fascinating medieval architecture and towers, fourteen of which still remain offering impressive views of the village and valley below. $600 deposit for this once in a lifetime Taste of Tuscany adventure.

Coordinator Bio: Angela Powers As a professional artist and avid traveler, I joined my two loves and Traveling Painters was born. I’ve led art groups to France and to Italy and fell in love with Spannocchia and am looking forward to returning in 2020. The farm is breathtaking, the classes are well done, the food and wine are incredible, and the well appointed 7 bedroom villa is spectacular. The folks at Spannocchia are very gracious and willing to help in any way. Our 2016 group of 16 was a mix of painters, cooks and hikers, and some that like everything which is me. Our 2020 trip will be less about plein air painting and more about experiencing Tuscany- the food, wine, art, culture, and sustainable farming, although plein air painters are very welcome.
This trip will be limited to 12, and will include painting but more about journaling our experience with water color and notes. For plein air painters it will be about making color notes for future paintings- no hauling all those art supplies.
A Taste of Tuscany includes: Accommodations- double occupancy All meals with wine except dinner in Siena Local transfers at set time to/from Florence All cooking, culture and art classes as well as art supplies Excursions to Siena and San Gimignano Days will begin with a short art lesson for journaling. Some days will be cooking or cultural classes alternating with days for excursions. We have left time in the schedule to truly enjoy Spannocchia with hiking time or just time to relax by the pool and read a book or paint. You will truly love Spannocchia.
